It's Trick-or-Trivia Time!
After a LOOOONG COVID-related pause last year, the Friends of Matheson Memorial Library Trick-or-Trivia fundraiser is back for its EIGHTH spook-tacular evening. Our homegrown trivia night outgrew the library space and moved to the Monte Carlo Room to be bigger than ever in 2019! We weren't sure how the larger venue would be received, but the Elkhorn community answered... we sold out with 22 tables SIX WEEKS before the event!
The Friends of Matheson Memorial Library is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping our local library serve the Elkhorn community. Trick-or-Trivia event proceeds fund both Adult & Children's programming at the library, new materials, special events, and more!
How Does It Work?
Tables (teams) of 8-10 people work together to answer general knowledge questions. Questions are weighted in each category based on the team's confidence in their answers. Teams will also have the opportunity to get ahead with bonus trivia sheets (see below for examples) and by purchasing $5 hints to help shake out the cobwebs and achieve trivia glory.
Teams that with the most success have a wide age range of players with a diverse level of interests. For example, an ideal team would have a book lover, sports fanatic, history buff, travel junkie, science teacher, and a Millennial who reads Rolling Stone. Can you assemble a dream team to beat four-time Trick-or-Trivia champions, The Smartinis? How about the 2018 winners, Tequila Mockingbird?
Winners receive bragging rights for the year (which is a SUPER big deal!) and team name on the ongoing Trick-or-Trivia trophy proclaiming your genius!!! We will also have a raffle with great prizes and a photo booth to capture the fun.
Admission & Registration Info:
Admission is $25 per seat. The cost of admission also includes an All-You-Can-Eat Sperino's Pizza Buffet from 6:30-7:30pm! Cash bar and additional snacks will also be available. The Friends of Matheson Memorial Library is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization so a percentage of your admission is tax-deductible.

The event will be held this year at the Monte Carlo Room, located at 720 N. Wisconsin Street in Elkhorn. Doors will open at 6:00pm and trivia will begin at 7:00pm.
Come Dressed For Trivia Success!
The most talked about element of the night is always the costumes. Year after year, some of the most creative Halloween costumes wander amongst the tables at Trick-or-Trivia. You may dress individually, go along with your team's theme, or dress casually for a fun night out. Corporate tables sometimes wear outfits with their company logos. Usually about 2/3 of attendees are in a costume of some kind for the event. It's loads of fun!
There is a costume contest every year where attendees get to vote on the Best Costume of the night for a special prize!
What's In A Name?
Another important factor is your team name. It can be as simple as a family or company name (i.e. The James Family or Pearce's Farm Stand) or you can get creative with a unique name that tells the other teams you mean business. Names can be funny, scary... whatever! Some teams even bring their own signage and table decorations to correspond with their theme. Have fun with it! Previous years' team names include:
